Overview

This year's festival, themed 'Around Hapcheon Along a Flower Path,' recreates Hapcheon's major attractions as autumn flower installations in the plaza, letting visitors enjoy them as if setting off on a journey. The journey concept unfolds in four stages. Stage 1 (Departure Station): A journey through Hapcheon with Byeolkungi. / Stage 2 (Journey Stops): Hapcheon's attractions are represented as stops, letting visitors feel the region's special charm. / Stage 3 (Flower Path): Walk along colorful blooming autumn flowers and create your own memories amid the beautiful scenery. / Stage 4 (Final Destination): A cozy camping space awaits at the end of the flower path, where visitors wrap up their journey with Byeolkungi and Daejangi. A variety of hands-on programs are prepared for the whole family to enjoy, including caricature drawing, making your own coffee-grounds refrigerator magnet, mother-of-pearl keyring making, chrysanthemum painting (tea mat making), soap making, ceramic rice bowl making, and writing family mottoes.

Why go

This autumn festival at the Tripitaka Koreana Theme Park in Hapcheon turns the plaza into a themed 'journey' through flower installations representing local attractions, guiding visitors from a departure point through colourful autumn blooms to a cozy camping area. Alongside the flower displays, there is a wide range of family-friendly hands-on activities, including ceramic bowl making, mother-of-pearl keyring crafting, soap making, chrysanthemum painting, and caricature drawing.

Getting there from Seoul

There is no direct KTX line to Hapcheon, so the most practical option is an intercity/express bus from Seoul (Seoul Nambu Terminal or Dong Seoul Terminal) to Hapcheon Bus Terminal. From there, a local bus or taxi will take you to the Tripitaka Koreana Theme Park on Gayasan-ro in Gaya-myeon. Travellers coming via KTX could also take the train to Daegu and transfer to a connecting bus toward Hapcheon.

Tips

  • Wear comfortable walking shoes, as the festival's four 'stages' are laid out across an outdoor plaza and a flower-lined path.
  • Budget extra time if you want to try the craft activities (ceramic rice bowl making, keyring making, soap making, chrysanthemum painting) with the family.
  • The journey concept ends at a camping space, so check on-site details if you plan to stay overnight.

Best for: families, photographers, craft workshops, autumn flowers.

    The 4th Chilgok Transmedia Festival

    Sep 15 – Oct 25, 2026

The 4th Chilgok Transmedia Festival is a cultural arts festival held throughout Waegwan-eup, Chilgok-gun, designed to let visitors experience the area's spaces and cultural resources in new ways by combining them with diverse media content. This year's festival takes as its theme the friendship between the poet Gu Sang and the painter Lee Jung-seop, expanding on the two artists' lives and body of work through literature, art, media, and performance content. In particular, rather than concentrating content in a single venue, the festival is run as a space-migrating festival in which visitors move through everyday spaces throughout Waegwan-eup to experience the programs directly.
