Overview

The 65th Tamna Cultural Festival is a festival that carries on the history and cultural spirit of the ancestors who, in the embrace of Hallasan, built their foundation for life through the wisdom of creation and a pioneering spirit, and brought Tamna culture into full bloom. It holds meaning in reinterpreting the cultural heritage and community spirit left behind by our ancestors from today's perspective, developing them into modern values, and widely promoting Jeju's unique culture and arts. In addition, in connection with the sports festival, it aims to create a space where culture and sports come together, and to expand into a cultural festival in which the people of Jeju Island participate as the main agents and create together. Through this, it seeks to achieve communication and harmony that embrace generations and regions, explore the possibilities of future culture based on Jeju's identity, and pass on the value of Tamna culture to the next generation.

Why go

Now in its 65th edition, the Tamna Cultural Festival celebrates Jeju's Tamna heritage, honoring the island's ancestors and their connection to Hallasan. This edition pairs the cultural festival with a sports festival, creating a combined event where local residents take part as active participants rather than just spectators.

Getting there from Seoul

Jeju is an island, so there is no train or bus route from Seoul; the standard way there is a domestic flight from Gimpo or Incheon Airport to Jeju International Airport. From the airport, take a local bus or taxi into Jeju-si to reach the Jeju Citizens' Welfare Town Square in the Donam-dong area.

Tips

  • The festival runs five days (17–21 October 2026); exact daily programming, hours, and fees weren't specified, so check local signage or Jeju tourism sources closer to the date.
  • Since it's paired with a sports festival, expect larger crowds and more activity around the venue than a culture-only event.
  • Book flights and Jeju accommodation early, as October is a busy travel season on the island.

Best for: culture enthusiasts, history buffs, families, festival-goers.
