Overview

The [World Heritage Joseon Royal Tombs Festival] is a special cultural event that conveys the history and dignity of the UNESCO World Heritage Joseon Royal Tombs and allows visitors to experience the royal tombs up close. Through a variety of programs spanning tradition and modernity—including performances, tours, experiential activities, and exhibitions—visitors can encounter the living history and culture held within the Joseon royal tombs. First held in 2020, the [2026 World Heritage Joseon Royal Tombs Festival] marks its 7th edition this year, running from the opening ceremony on Oct. 16 (Fri) through Oct. 25 (Sun). This year in particular, the festival presents newly designed programs built around the unique stories and historical value of each royal tomb. Visitors can walk through the sites following the tombs' stories and experience a range of content, offering a special opportunity to encounter the historical value and beauty of the Joseon royal tombs with all five senses.

    Korea AI Content Awards

    Hosted by Gyeonggi Province and organized by the Gyeonggi Content Agency, the Korea AI Content Awards is an event designed to discover new possibilities for creativity through the convergence of generative AI technology and video content, and to collectively explore the future of the content industry in the AI era. Held at Lotte Cinema Suwon, this awards ceremony will feature a variety of AI video works submitted from both Korea and abroad.     Suwon Hwaseong Festival

    The Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival reimagines, through a contemporary lens, the most magnificent moments of King Jeongjo’s eight-day royal procession to Hwaseong in 1795. Historic scenes recorded in the Wonhaeng Eulmyo Jeongni Uigwe come vividly to life through high-quality cultural programs. Visitors can also take part in the King Jeongjo Royal Parade, the largest royal procession reenactment in Korea, where citizens and guests from around the world become part of the spectacle. As a leading global festival, the Suwon Hwaseong Festival offers a unique opportunity to experience the joy of a celebration that transcends time and space while bringing people together in the historic setting of Suwon Hwaseong Fortress.

    2026 Hwaseong Haenggung Night Opening

    May 1 – Nov 1, 2026

    Hwaseong Haenggung, imbued with King Jeongjo's grand dreams and deep filial devotion, boasts the finest scale and dignity among the nation's many haenggung (temporary palaces), and is regarded as a palace whose beauty rivals that of Gyeongbokgung. Suwon's signature night tourism program, the 2026 Hwaseong Haenggung Night Opening "Dalbit Hwadam" (a tale of flowers under the moonlight), is themed around "a tale of flowers under the moonlight," offering a night atmosphere that is both splendid and serene through various flower display installations and fantastical lighting content. Walking along the flower path quietly blooming beneath the soft lighting, visitors travel back through time to feel the charm of the past, nature, and the spirit of the Joseon dynasty.
