Overview
Seoul Hanok Week is a cultural event held in the Bukchon and Seochon areas, featuring exhibitions, talks, tours, hands-on activities, performances, and other programs that showcase the spaces and appeal of traditional Korean hanok. The event offers various opportunities to experience hanok as part of everyday life through a range of cultural programs.

Seoul Hanok Week (October 2–11, 2026) opens Bukchon and Seochon's hanok neighbourhoods to the public through exhibitions, talks, hands-on activities, and a single performance, all centred on the character and everyday use of traditional Korean houses. A highlight is the joint docent tour with Open House Seoul, covering 12 courses of notable hanok buildings. It is organised by Seoul's Hanok Heritage Preservation Division and admission is free.
Getting there from Seoul
The event takes place within Seoul itself, in the Bukchon and Seochon areas of Jongno-gu, so no intercity travel is needed. Bukchon is reached by subway via Anguk or Gyeongbokgung stations on Line 3, both within walking distance of Bukchon Cultural Center and the listed exhibition sites. Taxis from central Seoul are also a straightforward option given the compact area.
Tips
- Exhibitions close on Mondays during the Oct 2–11 run, so check before visiting.
- The 12-course docent tour with Open House Seoul requires advance reservation, and closing days vary by course.
- The one-off performance at Bukchon Hanok Hall is on Oct 3, 17:30–18:10 only — plan around that fixed time if you want to see it.

King Jeongjo's Royal Parade

King Jeongjo's Royal Parade to Hwaseong Fortress recreates one of the most remarkable events of the Joseon dynasty. In 1795, King Jeongjo traveled from Seoul to Suwon to celebrate the 60th birthday of his mother, Queen Heonui, sharing the eight-day journey with the people along the route. Based on records from the "Wonhaeng Eulmyo Jeongni Uigwe," the festival faithfully reenacts the royal procession with traditional costumes, performances, and ceremonial displays. Held through the cooperation of Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, Suwon, and Hwaseong, the event offers visitors a chance to experience the grandeur and spirit of a historic royal celebration.
