Overview

The 9th 'Sea Festival in the City' will be held for two days from October 24 (Sat) to 25 (Sun) at Noryangjin Fisheries Market and around Noryangjin Soccer Field.

This festival, joined by Dongjak-gu, the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives, and Suhyup Noryangjin Suisan Co., Ltd., is richly organized under the theme 'Noryangjin Becomes Seoul's Sea,' with programs that let citizens directly open, enjoy, make, and taste the sea. This festival offers a variety of seafood food and experience events to delight visitors' eyes and mouths. Chef Yang Seung-ho, Korea's first Master Tuna Chef, will perform a live butchering of a 60-80kg fresh tuna on site followed by a tasting at 'Tuna, Bada! (Catch It),' while at 'Today I'm the Auction King' visitors can learn hand signals from an actual Noryangjin Fisheries Market auctioneer and take part in a real seafood auction to buy fresh seafood themselves; food booths run by market merchants, a direct trade market offering local fisheries cooperative specialties at low prices, and food trucks will also operate. Unique sea-themed experience programs that the whole family can join together in the heart of the city have been greatly expanded. On-site participation programs include 'A Round of Shrimp Catching,' 'A Moment's Bite,' 'Surfing in the City,' the children's air bounce 'Wave Playground,' the children's fishing experience 'Little Sea Fishing Spot,' and the 'Noryangjin Sea Golden Bell.' In addition, nine craft workshops that can be freely enjoyed, such as mood lamp making and sea sunshine suncatchers, will run free of charge. Colorful stage performances to liven up the festival atmosphere, including the BLUE SEA Concert, Hidden Singer LIVE, and Sea Trot LIVE, will continue over the two days. On Day 1 (the 24th), Chung-Ang University's cheering squad Hurassi's 'Sea Energy LIVE' and the 'Hidden Singer LIVE,' more real than the real thing, will be followed by the opening ceremony and the 'BLUE SEA Concert' featuring Kim Yeon-ja, Kim Hyun-jung, Lim Da-woon, and Ryu Won-jung, marking the start of the festival. The next day, the 25th, will feature 'Once Again at Nodeul,' where visitors can meet the winners of the Dongjak-gu residents' singing contest 'Nodeul Song Festival,' the 'Sea Trot LIVE' with Shin Seung-tae, Kim So-yu, and Hong Dan-bi performing an exciting trot stage, and will close with the music and closing ceremony (SEE YOU, SEA!). The festival runs from 12:00 at each booth and the main stage from 10/24 (Sat) to 10/25 (Sun), and businesses within the fisheries market participating in the festival will sell seafood at special prices during the event period, letting visitors enjoy seafood at lower prices than usual.

Why go

Sea Festival in the City is a two-day seafood event held at Noryangjin Fisheries Market and the adjacent soccer field, featuring a tuna butchering demonstration by a certified master chef and a hands-on mock seafood auction run by an actual market auctioneer. The festival also includes free craft workshops, children's activities such as a fishing experience and air bounce, and stage concerts over the two days, with market stalls offering seafood at event-only prices.

Getting there from Seoul

The festival grounds are in Dongjak-gu, within Seoul city limits, and are directly accessible by subway. Take Seoul Subway Line 1 to Noryangjin Station; the fisheries market and festival site are connected to the station by a pedestrian walkway, so no bus or taxi transfer is needed.

Tips

  • Take the subway rather than driving, as parking near the market is limited during the festival.
  • Booths and the main stage run from 12:00 on both days (Sat 24 Oct and Sun 25 Oct 2026), so there is little set up earlier in the morning.
  • Bring cash as well as a card, since some market stalls and the seafood auction may be easier to pay for in cash.

Best for: seafood lovers, families with children, food photographers.
