Poeun Culture Festival
Oct 10 – Oct 11, 2026 · Gyeonggi

Overview
The 22nd Poeun Culture Festival is a historical and cultural festival that honors the life and spirit of Poeun Jeong Mong-ju and shares traditional culture with citizens. In 2026, marking the 620th anniversary of the reinterment of Poeun Jeong Mong-ju, the festival will be held from October 10 to 11 under the theme 'Connecting 620 Years of Poeun's Breath,' around the tomb of Poeun Jeong Mong-ju in Mohyeon-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si. Through a reinterment procession and memorial rites, visitors can reflect on Poeun's footsteps, and experience traditional arts through a commemorative ceremony, celebratory performances, the Yongin Folk Arts Festival, and performances by winners of the National Youth Traditional Music Competition. The festival also offers a children's gwageo (state civil service exam) experience called 'Challenge! Little Jangwon (Top Scholar),' Poeun School, traditional culture experiences, and citizen participation programs, so families can learn about and enjoy history together. Various food trucks, local food, and a sales area for local agricultural specialty products are also operated, sharing the local culture. The RE-BORN Mission, continuing from the Cheoinseong Culture Festival in September, is a participatory program in which visitors carry out the mission of the 'Cheoin Guardians,' connecting the historical stories of the two festivals and experiencing the history and culture of Yongin.
Why go
This is the 22nd edition of a historical festival honouring Poeun Jeong Mong-ju, held in 2026 around the 620th anniversary of his reinterment, with a memorial procession, commemorative rites, and traditional performances including the Yongin Folk Arts Festival. Families can also join hands-on programs like a children's mock state exam ('Challenge! Little Jangwon') and other traditional culture activities, alongside food trucks and local agricultural product stalls.
Getting there from Seoul
The venue is in Mohyeon-myeon, Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, a rural part of Yongin rather than the central city area. From Seoul, take the subway (Bundang/Suin line or Shinbundang line) toward Yongin or Giheung, then transfer to a local bus or taxi for the remaining distance to Mohyeon-myeon, or travel by car/taxi directly. Build in extra travel time since this is outside the main Yongin subway network.
Tips
- The festival centres on an outdoor historical tomb site, so wear comfortable shoes for walking between program areas.
- Since the venue is in a rural part of Cheoin-gu, confirm the last bus or arrange a taxi back if staying late for evening performances.
- Food trucks and a local agricultural products sales area are on site, so you can plan meals around the festival grounds.
Best for: history buffs, families, cultural travelers.

Yongin Youth Festival
Oct 3 – Oct 4, 2026
To commemorate Youth Day 2026, this is an event directly planned and led by young people who actively take part in creating it. By organizing youth participation and experience programs such as the Youth LAB Program and This Month's Youth Instructor Class, it opens up a space for communication and harmony among the younger generation and for sharing youth culture. The subtitle of the 2026 Yongin Youth Festival, "Youth? You too-yong? Me too-yong!", carries the meaning of building common ground, sharing culture, and creating opportunities for exchange among young people in Yongin. The Wa-ralala Daytime Beer Meetup and the Eolle-beolle Board Game Program give local youth a chance to connect, while the Udangtangtang Find-the-Fake game and the Yorijori Festival Exploration Challenge let participants enjoy linked events such as the Korea Joayong Festival, and the Warigari Speed OX Quiz is also prepared as a time to learn about everything from youth policy to culture.
