Overview

The 2026 Korea-US Friendship Cultural Festival is an event held from Saturday, October 24 to Sunday, October 25, 2026, in the Sinjang Shopping Mall area in front of the K-55 main gate in Pyeongtaek. This festival is one of Pyeongtaek's representative local festivals, held to promote cultural exchange and friendship between Korea and the United States. The main operating hours are from 13:00 to 20:00 on both days. The event is largely divided into hands-on booth programs and stage programs. The booth programs include the English Festa Zone, where visitors can learn English through hands-on experience; the Korea-US Food Experience Zone, where visitors can experience Korean and American food; and the Korea-US Culture Experience Zone, where visitors can directly experience the culture of both countries. The stage programs include an opening ceremony, congratulatory performances, and stage events. In particular, this year's event will feature a variety of content themed around hamburgers and budae-jjigae (army stew), the signature foods of Sinjang Shopping Mall. The 'National Korea-US Burger Contest: Find the Taste of Songtan Burgers!', being held for the first time this year, will showcase a variety of hamburgers reflecting the characteristics of the Sinjang area, in a competition that highlights the taste and appeal of the region's signature burgers. This festival is designed as a celebration where Pyeongtaek citizens, USFK service members and their families, and local residents come together to understand each other's cultures and build friendship.

Why go

This Pyeongtaek festival celebrates Korea-US friendship through hands-on booths like the English Festa Zone, the Korea-US Food Experience Zone, and the Korea-US Culture Experience Zone, plus a stage program with an opening ceremony and performances. A highlight this year is the first-ever National Korea-US Burger Contest, spotlighting Songtan's signature hamburgers and budae-jjigae (army stew). It's designed to bring together Pyeongtaek residents and USFK service members and their families.

Getting there from Seoul

The venue is near the K-55 (Osan Air Base) main gate in the Songtan area of Pyeongtaek, so Songtan Station on Seoul Subway Line 1 (Gyeongbu Line) is the most direct option, roughly 1.5-2 hours from central Seoul depending on the train. From the station, it's a short taxi or local bus ride to the Sinjang Shopping Mall area. Faster Gyeongbu Line trains to Pyeongtaek Station, with a local transfer onward, are another option if you're coming from a KTX-served city.

Tips

  • Both days run 13:00-20:00, so there's no need to arrive early in the morning
  • Try the Korea-US Food Experience Zone and the new burger contest to sample the festival's signature food theme
  • Check the stage program schedule after arriving, as it includes the opening ceremony and other performances

Best for: families, food lovers, culture enthusiasts.
