Icheon Ginseng Health Festival
Oct 9 – Oct 11, 2026 · Gyeonggi
Overview
The Icheon Ginseng Festival began in 2015 to promote the premium ginseng grown in Icheon, Korea's largest ginseng-producing region. To grow into the leading ginseng health festival in the Seoul metropolitan area by combining ginseng with the theme of health, it was renamed the Icheon Ginseng Health Festival starting in 2025. The Icheon Ginseng Health Festival is a special festival where, amid the atmosphere of autumn, visitors can enjoy ginseng as well as take care of their health, offering an affordable shopping opportunity to see and purchase high-quality Icheon ginseng with its deep, rich aroma. It also offers visitors participatory content in the form of health and play experiences using ginseng — such as a ginseng product evaluation fair, ginseng health kimchi-making experience, and ginseng foot bath — where people of all ages and genders can see and enjoy ginseng while taking care of their health. Colorful stage performances by invited singers and events such as a ginseng auction with visitors add to the festival's excitement, and it is one of Icheon's representative festivals, where visitors can taste healthy foods made with freshly harvested ginseng, such as fried ginseng and ginseng makgeolli.
Why go
This festival lets visitors sample and shop for premium ginseng from Icheon, Korea's largest ginseng-producing region, at an affordable price directly from growers. Hands-on activities include a ginseng foot bath, a ginseng health kimchi-making experience, and a ginseng product evaluation fair, alongside stage performances and a ginseng auction. Food stalls offer ginseng-based dishes such as fried ginseng and ginseng makgeolli.
Getting there from Seoul
Icheon in Gyeonggi-do is not on the KTX/SRT network, so the usual route is an intercity or express bus from Seoul (Dong Seoul Bus Terminal or Seoul Express Bus Terminal) to Icheon Bus Terminal, roughly 1 to 1.5 hours depending on traffic. From Icheon Bus Terminal, the festival site on Dunteo-ro in Sindun-myeon is outside the city center, so plan on a taxi or local bus for the final stretch.
Tips
- Bring cash or a card for ginseng shopping and food stalls, since quality ginseng can be a notable purchase.
- Check on-site for sign-up details if you want to join the kimchi-making or foot bath experiences, as capacity may be limited.
- Since the venue is in a rural area outside central Icheon, confirm taxi availability or any festival shuttle locally rather than relying on walking.
Best for: food lovers, families, health and wellness travelers, cultural travelers.
