Haman National Heritage Nighttime Tour
Oct 9 – Oct 11, 2026 · Happening now · Gyeongsangnam-do
Overview
The '2026 Haman National Heritage Nighttime Tour' runs from October 9 to 11, daily from 6 PM to 10 PM, around Mujinjeong Pavilion, Seongsan Mountain Fortress, and the Stone Buddha Triad of Daesan-ri. Under the theme 'Mugungmujin (無窮無盡, Boundless and Inexhaustible)', it offers nighttime exploration and cultural programs linking local national heritage sites. The program is organized into eight 'Nights' (夜) — Night View, Night Road, Night Talk, Night History, Night Art, Night Market, Night Food, and Night Stay — featuring landscape lighting, heritage commentary, traditional art performances, exhibitions, markets, and food. Programs reflecting the history and spatial character of each heritage site will involve local artists, citizen cultural guides, and craft and food vendors, with various performances including the Haman Nakhwanori (Fire-Flower Play) and a parade with Haman Hwacheon Nongak (farmers' percussion music).
Why go
This event turns three national heritage sites in Haman - Mujinjeong Pavilion, Seongsan Mountain Fortress, and the Stone Buddha Triad of Daesan-ri - into an evening cultural trail with lighting, heritage commentary, traditional performances, and food and craft markets. Highlights include the Haman Nakhwanori (Fire-Flower Play) and a parade featuring Haman Hwacheon Nongak (farmers' percussion music), performed with local artists and citizen guides.
Getting there from Seoul
Haman-gun is in Gyeongsangnam-do; there is no direct KTX stop in Haman itself, so the usual route is KTX from Seoul or Yongsan to Masan or Changwon, then a local bus or taxi to Gaya-eup. An express or intercity bus from Seoul's bus terminals toward Masan, Changwon, or Jinju, followed by a local transfer, is another option. Allow time for the onward local connection, since it isn't a direct rail link.
Tips
- Programs run only in the evening (6-10 PM), so plan to arrive in the late afternoon.
- The route covers multiple outdoor heritage sites, so wear comfortable walking shoes.
- Rural bus services can be infrequent at night, so confirm return transport (bus or taxi) before heading out.
Best for: history enthusiasts, photographers, families, cultural travelers.
