Overview

The fun of enjoying the market by eating, playing, and collecting returns once again. 'Baeknyeon Night,' certified as the nation's best night market in 2025, will be held from October 30 to 31, 2026, from 4 PM to 9 PM, at Baeknyeon Market in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul. This year's event takes 'WICKED' as its theme, capturing the eerie mood of late October, transforming the familiar market alleys into a strange and delightful autumn-night playground.

At the heart of Baeknyeon Night is the 'Subaegi' system, which links shopping and play in the market. Visitors can collect 'Subaegi' by presenting a receipt for a purchase of 3,000 KRW or more at Baeknyeon Market, or by taking part in on-site missions, events, and specially themed interactive content. These can be exchanged for Baeknyeon Night merchandise, Baeknyeon Market gift certificates, Baeknyeon Jumak makgeolli kits, digital Onnuri gift certificates, and more, while cocktails can be exchanged and enjoyed with no limit on the number of times. The experience of eating and drinking at the market and playing games in the alleys comes back as rewards, adding to the fun of exploring every corner of the market.

The food also carries Baeknyeon Market's own character. Visitors can enjoy the makgeolli from 'Baeknyeon Jumak,' designed to capture the market's spirit, along with signature drinks from the Baeknyeon Cocktail Bar, as well as a variety of snacks and anju (drinking food) from market stalls, food trucks, and mobile carts. Visitors can move between a stage featuring DJ music and performances, a food lounge for resting with something to eat, a table zone for sitting with friends, and a play bunker for joining in games, enjoying the night in their own way.

The pleasure of choosing the music is also left to visitors. 'Baeknyeon Request Song' is a program where visitors scan an on-site QR code to request a song they want to hear, which is then played across the entire market according to operating conditions and the playback order. A single song chosen by one visitor fills the market alleys, letting people at different tables enjoy the same music together. On the DJ stage, professional festival DJs bring music that adds to the on-site energy.

A night of enjoying a delicious meal in the market alleys, exchanging the 'Subaegi' collected through shopping and play for prizes and cocktails, listening to requested songs together, and meeting new company. Baeknyeon Night is a night market completed by visitors themselves, adding play, music, and encounters to the warmth of a traditional market.

Why go

Baeknyeon Night Market turns the alleys of Baeknyeon Market in Gangbuk-gu into a themed 'WICKED' autumn-night market for one weekend, combining food, drink, games, and DJ music. Its 'Subaegi' reward system lets shoppers trade market receipts and on-site mission completions for market merchandise, gift certificates, makgeolli kits, and unlimited cocktail exchanges, and visitors can even request songs to be played across the market via QR code.

Getting there from Seoul

Baeknyeon Market is in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk-gu, within Seoul itself, so no intercity travel is needed. Seoul Subway Line 4 serves the Suyu-dong area, with onward access by local bus or a short taxi/walk to Hancheon-ro 144-gil.

Tips

  • Keep a receipt showing a 3,000 KRW+ purchase at the market to collect 'Subaegi' tokens, redeemable for merchandise, gift certificates, and unlimited cocktails.
  • The event runs only 30–31 October, 4 PM–9 PM, so plan your visit within those exact dates and hours.
