Overview

From this month through December, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is holding the special exhibition 'Eight Colors, Brilliant: Regions Full of K' on the first floor of Cheong Wa Dae Sarangchae. The exhibition starts from the question, 'What are the roots of the K we talk about?' Through regional content exhibits and media art, it presents in a multifaceted way how Korea's history, culture and arts, and each region's unique cultural assets have carried over into and expanded as K-content. In particular, it focuses on illuminating how the cultural assets accumulated across Korea's various regions have become the foundation of today's K-culture.

    Gyeongbokgung Starlight Night Tour

    Sep 2 – Oct 24, 2026

Gyeongbokgung Starlight Night Tour is a nighttime exploration program in which visitors tour the northern section of Gyeongbokgung Palace while experiencing royal court cuisine and traditional culture. Guided by expert commentary, participants move through various parts of the palace to learn about the life of the royal family during the Joseon Dynasty and the historical stories associated with Gyeongbokgung. At Oesojubang, the palace kitchen, visitors can experience a special 12-dish royal table setting—a modern reinterpretation of the Joseon-era royal court table (sura-sang)—served in the form of a 'doseulk' (traditional portable lunch box). This year, a special changgeuk (Korean traditional opera) performance depicting the king's story will be presented at Jipokjae, the study of King Gojong, offering a unique experience where the history of the space and the performance come together. Afterward, visitors can gaze at the starlight reflected in Hyangwonji Pond and enjoy an atmosphere quite different from daytime amid the tranquil scenery of Gyeongbokgung. At Gyeongbokgung's Starlight Night Tour, where the dining culture of the Joseon royal family found in royal court cuisine, historic spaces, beautiful night views, and traditional culture all come together, visitors can experience a special and warm night at the palace.

    King Jeongjo's Royal Parade

    Oct 4, 2026

King Jeongjo's Royal Parade to Hwaseong Fortress recreates one of the most remarkable events of the Joseon dynasty. In 1795, King Jeongjo traveled from Seoul to Suwon to celebrate the 60th birthday of his mother, Queen Heonui, sharing the eight-day journey with the people along the route. Based on records from the "Wonhaeng Eulmyo Jeongni Uigwe," the festival faithfully reenacts the royal procession with traditional costumes, performances, and ceremonial displays. Held through the cooperation of Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, Suwon, and Hwaseong, the event offers visitors a chance to experience the grandeur and spirit of a historic royal celebration.
