Overview

This is a non-competitive night trekking event in which participants stroll through the forest and night views of Namsan, one of Seoul's premier nighttime attractions. Starting from Namsangol Hanok Village, participants travel about 3km via the Namsan Pedestrian Bridge and Namsan Park Road to reach Namsan Tower. The small lights carried by participants—glow-in-the-dark wristbands and glow-in-the-dark phone grips (griptok)—form a continuous trail of light along the Namsan night path, creating a scene reminiscent of fireflies in motion. For each session, about 700 participants are divided into 7 groups of 100 people each, departing in sequence after warm-up exercises and a safety briefing. After arriving at Palgakjeong Pavilion, each group takes a commemorative photo before being dismissed.

Why go

A non-competitive night trek through Namsan, one of Seoul's best-known nighttime viewpoints, where participants carry glow-in-the-dark wristbands and phone grips that form a moving trail of light along the path. The roughly 3km route goes from Namsangol Hanok Village over the Namsan Pedestrian Bridge and Namsan Park Road up to Namsan Tower, ending with a group photo at Palgakjeong Pavilion.

Getting there from Seoul

The starting point, Namsangol Hanok Village, is in Jung-gu and easiest to reach by subway via Chungmuro Station (Line 3 or 4) or Myeongdong Station (Line 4), both a short walk away. From Seoul Station, where KTX and ITX trains arrive, it's about 10-15 minutes by subway or taxi.

Tips

  • Wear sturdy, comfortable walking shoes for the roughly 3km uphill route through Namsan Park.
  • Bring a jacket, as the event runs into late autumn (through November) and it can be cool and windy after dark on Namsan.
  • Participants depart in sequential groups of about 100 after a warm-up and safety briefing, so arrive in good time for your scheduled session.

Best for: night walkers, photographers, couples, first-time visitors.
