Yeoncheon Job's Tears Festival
Oct 23 – Oct 25, 2026 · Gyeonggi

Overview
The Yeoncheon Job's Tears Festival is a local festival centered on Job's tears (yulmu), Yeoncheon County's signature agricultural specialty, together with a variety of the region's clean, pristine local food products. It is an event that showcases and sells Yeoncheon's Job's tears and other agricultural specialties, carefully grown in the fertile soil of the south and the clean water of the north, all in one place. At the festival grounds, the sale of agricultural products is combined with farming culture experience programs, exhibitions, performances, and local food offerings, making it a multifaceted event. The festival is designed to promote the value of local agriculture and the excellence of its specialty products, while letting visitors experience the atmosphere of a rural market together with the local culture. By bringing producers and consumers face to face, the event builds trust in local agricultural products and helps spread word of Yeoncheon's clean image and agricultural resources.
Why go
The Yeoncheon Job's Tears Festival celebrates yulmu (Job's tears), the county's signature grain, together with a range of clean, locally grown agricultural specialties. Visitors can browse and buy produce directly from the farmers who grew it, while also taking in farming-culture experience programs, exhibitions, performances, and local food stalls. It offers a genuine rural market atmosphere rather than a staged tourist event.
Getting there from Seoul
Yeoncheon sits in far-northern Gyeonggi-do near the DMZ, so there is no KTX service; the commuter-friendly option is the Gyeongwon Line (Seoul Subway Line 1) heading north through Uijeongbu and Dongducheon toward Yeoncheon. An intercity or express bus from a Seoul bus terminal to Yeoncheon's bus terminal is another option. From either arrival point, a local taxi or bus covers the final stretch to the festival grounds in Jeongok-eup.
Tips
- Bring cash, since this is largely a farm-to-consumer market where you buy Job's tears and other produce straight from growers
- It combines a market with farming-culture programs, exhibitions, and performances, so allow at least half a day
- It's an outdoor, rural event, so dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes
Best for: foodies, families, agritourism.

In particular, the Goryeo ginseng of the Gaeseong ginseng lineage produced in Yeoncheon is known as a high-quality local specialty. Based on the historical significance and commercial value of Yeoncheon ginseng, this festival runs a variety of exhibition, sales, experience, and food programs.
