Overview

The 8th Yeoncheon Chrysanthemum Festival is an autumn chrysanthemum festival hosted by Yeoncheon-gun and organized by the Yeoncheon-gun Agricultural Technology Center, held throughout the Jeongok-ri archaeological site. The theme of the 2026 festival is 'The Breath of Goguryeo, Blooming into Chrysanthemums,' and the event connects the historical and cultural space of the Jeongok-ri site with diverse chrysanthemum landscapes to offer visitors sights to see and activities to experience. The festival grounds will feature large-scale landscapes made of chrysanthemums, themed photo zones, and exhibition and experience spaces using Goguryeo imagery. The festival will run hands-on experience programs and photo-taking spaces for visitors to participate in directly, along with spaces for promoting and selling local specialty agricultural products and food stalls. It is a regional tourism festival designed so that a wide range of visitors, including families, can enjoy the autumn chrysanthemum scenery while experiencing Yeoncheon's history, culture, and local agriculture together. Paying visitors are refunded an amount equal to the admission fee in Yeoncheon Love Gift Certificates, an operating method that links festival attendance with local spending.

Why go

Now in its 8th year, this festival blankets the Jeongok-ri archaeological site in large-scale chrysanthemum displays built around a 2026 Goguryeo theme, pairing flower photo zones with history-themed exhibition spaces. It's a family-friendly regional event with hands-on activities, local food stalls, and agricultural produce sales alongside the flowers.

Getting there from Seoul

Yeoncheon-gun sits in northern Gyeonggi-do near the DMZ, reachable via the Gyeongwon Line commuter train from Seoul Station, Yongsan, or Cheongnyangni toward Yeoncheon/Baengma — get off at Jeongok Station, close to the Jeongok-ri site. Alternatively, an intercity bus from a Seoul terminal to Yeoncheon followed by a short taxi ride also works; plan for roughly 1.5–2 hours travel time.

Tips

  • Keep your admission receipt — paid entry is refunded as Yeoncheon Love Gift Certificates, which you can spend on the local produce and food stalls on site.
  • The grounds cover the Jeongok-ri archaeological site, so budget time for the Goguryeo-themed exhibition and photo zones, not just the flower beds.
  • It's an outdoor festival in mid-to-late October, so dress in warm layers for cool mornings and evenings.

Best for: families, photographers, history buffs, local food lovers.
