Yangpyeong Buchu (Chives) Festival
Oct 9 – Oct 10, 2026 · Gyeonggi

Overview
Now in its 7th year, the Yangpyeong Buchu Festival is a resident-led festival that promotes the premium chives of Yangdong-myeon, Yangpyeong-gun—the nation's top chive-producing region—along with the county's excellent agricultural specialty products, created together by local schools, farming households, and residents. In particular, the 2026 "Buchu-da Yangpyeong Buchu Festival" takes as its theme "a festival with lots of flavor, lots of fun, and lots of happiness," offering visitors the chance to enjoy, all in one place, Korea's finest Yangdong chives and fresh agricultural produce grown with farmers' dedication, along with a wide variety of food and hands-on programs. Abundant dishes made with Yangdong chives—including the festival's signature "Buchu-da Buchu Gukbap" (chive rice soup), as well as chive rice cakes, chive noodles, and chive makgeolli—will delight visitors' palates. There will also be hands-on programs where visitors can see, touch, and experience Yangdong chives directly, such as planting chives in pots and trimming chives, along with a variety of play programs for the whole family to enjoy together, making it the perfect family outing spot to visit with children.
Why go
Now in its seventh year, this resident-led festival in Yangdong-myeon celebrates Yangpyeong's status as Korea's top chive-growing region. Visitors can sample chive dishes such as the signature Buchu-da Buchu Gukbap (chive rice soup), chive rice cakes, noodles, and makgeolli, and join hands-on activities like potting and trimming chives. Organized together by local schools, farming households, and residents, it makes for an authentic small-town harvest celebration with programs for the whole family.
Getting there from Seoul
The venue sits on Yangdongyeok-gil, right next to Yangdong Station on the Jungang Line, which runs directly from Cheongnyangni Station in Seoul. The trip takes roughly an hour depending on the train (ITX-Cheongchun or commuter service), and since the address is on the station road itself, the festival should be within walking distance once you arrive. Check train schedules in advance, as services to Yangdong Station run less frequently than to the larger Yangpyeong Station a few stops away.
Tips
- Travel by train to Yangdong Station, since the festival address is directly on the station's access road.
- The event runs only two days, 9-10 October 2026, so confirm you have the right weekend before travelling.
- Bring some cash for food stalls selling chive gukbap, rice cakes, and makgeolli, as small local festivals may not all accept cards.
Best for: families, food lovers, day-trippers from Seoul.
