Unjeong Lake Park Fireworks Festival
Oct 31 – Dec 31, 2026 · Gyeonggi

Overview
The Unjeong Lake Park Fireworks Festival began in 2017 through the efforts of local residents, and except during the COVID-19 pandemic, it has become a leading local festival that has lit up Paju's nights every autumn. This year marks the 8th edition in 2026, under the theme 'Again, Light,' to be held on October 31 around Unjeong Lake Park. On the day of the festival, street art performances and experience booths will run from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM, followed by a lighting ceremony and fireworks show at 7:30 PM. Alongside the fireworks show, a special firebird display will be presented centered on the Sorichon stream. In addition, a light garden will operate from the day of the festival until December 31, showcasing light-based scenery from autumn through the end of the year. The Unjeong Lake Park Fireworks Festival is hosted by Paju City and organized by the Paju Cultural Foundation.
Why go
Now in its 8th year, this Paju festival turns Unjeong Lake Park into a one-night fireworks and firebird spectacle on October 31, with street performances and experience booths running through the afternoon beforehand. After that, a light garden keeps the lakeside lit through the end of December, so visitors can still enjoy the illuminated scenery well after the main event.
Getting there from Seoul
Unjeong-dong in Paju is reachable from central Seoul via the Gyeongui-Jungang Line to Unjeong Station, followed by a short taxi or local bus ride to Unjeong Lake Park. Driving is also an option and may be easier for the light-garden period after the festival night, when crowds are smaller.
Tips
- Arrive well before 7:30 PM on October 31 to get a good spot for the fireworks and firebird display along the Sorichon stream
- Dress warmly, as late-October evenings by the lake can be cold
- If visiting after October 31, expect only the light garden (no fireworks or booths), which runs through December 31
Best for: families, photographers, couples.
