Why go
The 6th Jeonju Street Puppet Festival turns the hanok village into an open-air puppet theatre, mixing performances with hands-on experience programs aimed at children and families. It's a low-key way to combine a hanok village visit with a distinctive, locally made arts event rather than a large commercial festival.
Getting there from Seoul
Take the KTX from Yongsan or Seoul Station to Jeonju Station (roughly 1.5-2 hours), or an express/intercity bus from Seoul's Central City or Express Bus Terminal to Jeonju (around 3 hours). From Jeonju Station or the bus terminal, a taxi or local bus gets you to Jeonju Hanok Village, where the festival's venues (Omokdae Traditional Garden and the Puppet Theater Experience Hall) are located, in about 15-20 minutes.
