Overview

The Jeungpyeong Ginseng Festival is a signature local festival held every autumn in Jeungpyeong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, a comprehensive cultural festival combining various cultural and artistic performances, hands-on programs, exhibitions, and competitions. Jeungpyeong, which accounts for about two-thirds of Chungcheongbuk-do's ginseng production and has established itself as the home of ginseng, has long grown into a hub for ginseng cultivation and distribution, and through this festival it promotes the excellence of its local specialties, ginseng and red ginseng pork, both nationwide and around the world. Key programs include the 'Inmaek Party (Ginseng + Beer)', where visitors enjoy ginseng and beer alongside EDM music; the 'International Youth Festival,' featuring domestic and international youth participants; the 'National Ginseng Valley Song Festival,' which brings together all generations; and the 'National Busking Festival,' showcasing performances of various genres. Spectacular fireworks are also held every day during the festival, giving visitors special memories. In addition, various themed experience zones such as the 'Children & Family Experience Zone' and 'Health Experience Zone' are set up, and with on-site auctions of local agricultural specialties, traveling traditional ssireum (Korean wrestling) demonstrations, and more, it is an all-senses, hands-on festival that people of all ages can join and enjoy together. As the number of foreign tourists continues to grow steadily each year and the festival keeps developing into a global event, it is making a significant contribution to promoting local agricultural products and revitalizing the local economy, and in 2025 it was designated a Promising Festival by Chungcheongbuk-do, having its value recognized.

Why go

This autumn festival in Jeungpyeong-gun celebrates the region's status as the top ginseng-growing area in Chungcheongbuk-do, with tastings and sales of ginseng and red ginseng pork alongside hands-on exhibits. Entertainment spans the ginseng-and-beer 'Inmaek Party' with EDM, an international youth festival, a busking festival, and nightly fireworks, making it a lively mix of local specialty and performance for all ages.

Getting there from Seoul

Jeungpyeong has no KTX station, so the most direct option is an intercity or express bus from Seoul (such as Nambu/South Seoul Terminal) to Jeungpyeong Bus Terminal, roughly 1.5–2 hours depending on traffic and service. From the terminal it's a short taxi or local transfer to the festival site near Bogangcheon Sports Park. Travelers with a car can also drive via the regional expressways in a similar time.

Tips

  • Sample the local ginseng and red ginseng pork, and look out for on-site auctions of farm specialties.
  • If you're there in the evening, check out the Inmaek Party (ginseng + beer with EDM) and the daily fireworks.
  • Public transit within Jeungpyeong itself is limited, so plan for a taxi or car from the bus terminal to the sports park venue.

Best for: foodies, families, live music fans.
