It runs daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., hosted by the Korea Racing Authority and Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, and organized by the Korea Racing Authority Jeju Regional Headquarters. The overall program consists of 37 types in total: 8 exhibitions, 12 industry and art programs, 9 play and experience programs, 5 market and rest programs, and 3 connected programs. The venue is built around four themed spaces: the Jeju Horse Heritage Lounge, the Malteuri Studio, the Reckless Play Park, and the Jerajin Picnic Market. It is a festival featuring exhibitions, docent tours, and documentary screenings on the history of Heonmagongsin Kim Man-il and the Jeju horse, along with Jeju horse bonding programs such as pony feeding, horseback riding, and horse painting. The event also runs a Malteuri culture experience, a horseback riding simulator, an AI photo studio, dance and drawing contests, traditional games, family races, picnic performances, sales of food and local Jeju products, and programs linked to the grand prize race and stamp rally.

Why go

This is Jeju's dedicated horse festival, held at Let's Run Park Jeju in Aewol-eup, with exhibitions, docent tours, and documentary screenings on the history of the Jeju horse and horse breeder Kim Man-il. Beyond the history focus, there are hands-on activities like pony feeding, horseback riding, horse painting, and a Malteuri (horse herder) culture experience, plus a stamp rally and grand prize race for a lively family day out.

Getting there from Seoul

Jeju is an island, so you'll need to fly rather than take a train or bus. Flights run from Gimpo (and other Seoul-area airports) to Jeju International Airport, taking roughly an hour. From Jeju Airport, reach Let's Run Park Jeju in Aewol-eup by taxi, rental car, or local bus.

Tips

  • The festival runs 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. both days (October 24-25, 2026), so plan to arrive early to fit in both the exhibitions and the activity programs.
  • There are four themed areas (Heritage Lounge, Malteuri Studio, Reckless Play Park, Jerajin Picnic Market), so pick up a map or program guide on arrival to prioritize what interests you most.
  • Late October on Jeju can be cool and breezy, especially outdoors near the racetrack grounds, so bring a light jacket.

Best for: families, horse lovers, photographers, culture enthusiasts.

2026 5th Jeju Biennale Heokkeugok Modakchigok Iyahong: The Art of Transformation

    Aug 25 – Nov 15, 2026

The civilization that blossomed on Jeju, a volcanic island on the Eurasian plate, flowed in not only from the sea but also arrived from the continental civilizations of the north. All manner of elements scattered and gathered on Jeju, mingling and transforming to shape today's ecology, geography, and way of life on Jeju. Now entering its 10th year, the 5th Jeju Biennale focuses on Jeju's dynamic process of encountering northern civilizations, scattering (heokkeuda), gathering (modakchida), and transforming (iyahong). To this end, the Biennale takes as its thematic word and core concept 'Iyahong,' the refrain of the Iyahong Taryeong, a folk song that flowed in from the mainland and became another indigenous folk song of Jeju. Through Jeju, where the principles of climate and sustenance are embedded, the Jeju Biennale seeks to present the ways of survival and the aesthetics shaped together by objects, nature, human life, and divinity.

    Tamna Cultural Festival

    Oct 17 – Oct 21, 2026

The 65th Tamna Cultural Festival is a festival that carries on the history and cultural spirit of the ancestors who, in the embrace of Hallasan, built their foundation for life through the wisdom of creation and a pioneering spirit, and brought Tamna culture into full bloom. It holds meaning in reinterpreting the cultural heritage and community spirit left behind by our ancestors from today's perspective, developing them into modern values, and widely promoting Jeju's unique culture and arts. In addition, in connection with the sports festival, it aims to create a space where culture and sports come together, and to expand into a cultural festival in which the people of Jeju Island participate as the main agents and create together. Through this, it seeks to achieve communication and harmony that embrace generations and regions, explore the possibilities of future culture based on Jeju's identity, and pass on the value of Tamna culture to the next generation.
