Overview
The 2026 Janghang 1931 Night Journey is a nighttime cultural tourism festival held around Janghang Urban Exploration Station, themed around Janghang's modern and contemporary living culture and the region's historical characteristics.
The festival runs for a total of 4 days: October 10, October 17, October 30, and October 31, 2026, with operating hours from 17:00 to 21:00 on each day.
The themes for each date are Music Journey, Film Journey, Tea House Journey, and Gourmet Journey, with the event composed of performance, exhibition, experience, and food and beverage programs tailored to each theme.
The main content consists of programs based on Janghang's modern and contemporary living history, including its port, trains, and tea house culture.
The festival makes use of spaces within Janghang Urban Exploration Station, such as the old train station, a Mugunghwa-ho train, the rooftop, and the platform, and is designed to let visitors encounter Janghang's living culture and history through performances and cultural experiences.
Why go
The Janghang 1931 Night Journey turns the historic Janghang Urban Exploration Station into an evening cultural festival built around the old port town's modern and contemporary living history. Visitors explore the former train station, a retired Mugunghwa-ho train, the rooftop, and the platform through performances, exhibitions, and food and drink programmes themed around music, film, tea houses, and local cuisine.
Getting there from Seoul
Seocheon-gun is served by the Janghang Line, so an ITX-Saemaeul or Mugunghwa-ho train from Yongsan Station toward Janghang/Seocheon is a direct option. Intercity or express buses from Seoul terminals to Seocheon bus terminal are an alternative, with a short local taxi or bus ride onward to Janghang Urban Exploration Station.
Tips
- The festival runs on only four evenings in October 2026 (Oct 10, 17, 30, 31), each with a different theme (Music, Film, Tea House, Gourmet) - pick the date matching your interest.
- Operating hours are 17:00-21:00 only, so plan to arrive in the early evening rather than during the day.
- This is a small rural station town, so confirm your return train or bus time in advance rather than relying on finding transport on the spot.
Best for: history buffs, train enthusiasts, photographers, evening explorers.
