Overview
Namdang Port, located at the west end of Hongseong, is a famous west coast port known for its exceptional seafood. Surrounded by the clean waters of Cheonsuman Bay, Namdang Port is home to a wide array of sea life including blue crab, cockle and webfoot octopus. Namdang Port also draws throngs of visitors from early September to mid-October every year for the country’s largest Jumbo Shrimp Festival.

Getting there from Seoul
Take a train from Yongsan Station to Hongseong Station (Janghang Line, ITX/Mugunghwa service), or an intercity/express bus from a Seoul bus terminal to Hongseong Intercity Bus Terminal. From Hongseong, continue by local bus or taxi to Namdang Port in Seobu-myeon, a short trip further west.
Tips
- Entry to the festival grounds is free, but food and hands-on experiences are charged separately.
- The festival runs roughly 09:00–24:00, though specific programs and performances vary by day, so check the schedule for your visit date.
- It spans a long season (Sept–Nov 2026), so weather and crowd levels can differ a lot between early and later visits.

The Hongseong Global BBQ Festival held in Hongseong, a city of aesthetics, is a festival where visitors can enjoy various barbecue cultures from home and abroad in one place. You can taste unique barbecue dishes based on Hongseong's livestock resources such as Hongseong hanu (Korean beef) and Hongseong handon (Korean pork), and there will also be cooking demonstrations by famous YouTubers and chefs.
