Overview

The 15th Gyeongsan Jujube Festival & Farm Products Fair is a leading regional agricultural specialty festival held in Gyeongsan, the jujube capital that accounts for about 30% of the nation's jujube production. Gyeongsan jujubes, long offered as royal tribute since ancient times, are Gyeongsan's signature specialty, ripened sweet and full under the sunshine. Under the theme 'Royal Tribute Gyeongsan Jujube Gourmet Festa,' the festival offers the sale of raw jujubes alongside a variety of gourmet programs using jujube-based foods. A range of programs are prepared, including a talk concert on poet Jang Seok-ju's 'A Jujube,' the 'Byeolcho' trot music concert themed on 'Gyeongsan Jujube,' and the 'Teukcho' dinner show. Alongside these, the festival also runs cultural and arts programs such as the Jungbang Nongak (farmers' music and dance), a trot madangguk (outdoor trot drama), and the Cheongchoon Mike Synergy Band performance, as well as a Farm Products Fair where visitors can encounter local agricultural specialties.

Why go

Gyeongsan produces about 30% of Korea's jujubes and is celebrated as the country's jujube capital, and this 15th edition of the festival centers on that heritage with a 'Royal Tribute Gyeongsan Jujube' theme, fresh jujube sales, and jujube-based gourmet dishes. Alongside the Farm Products Fair, the programme includes cultural performances such as Jungbang Nongak farmers' music and dance, a trot madangguk outdoor drama, a talk concert on poet Jang Seok-ju's poem 'A Jujube,' and live music from the 'Byeolcho' trot concert and Cheongchoon Mike Synergy Band.

Getting there from Seoul

Gyeongsan sits just east of Daegu, so the fastest option is KTX from Seoul Station to Dongdaegu Station (roughly 1.5–2 hours), then a short taxi or local transport on to Gyeongsan, which also has its own train station on the Gyeongbu line. An express bus from Seoul's terminals to Daegu or Gyeongsan is a cheaper alternative, with a local taxi or bus from there to the venue on Nammae-ro in Sangbang-dong, Gyeongsan-si.

Tips

  • Bring cash for buying fresh jujubes and other farm produce directly from vendors at the fair.
  • The festival runs in mid-October, so pack a light jacket for cooler evenings during outdoor concerts and performances.
  • Plan onward transport from Dongdaegu or Gyeongsan Station in advance, since the festival site is outside the main station area.

Best for: food lovers, families, agritourism, cultural performances.
