Oct 16 – Oct 17, 2026 · Daegu

Overview
The 2026 Daegu National Heritage Night Tour is a nighttime cultural heritage festival held throughout the Cheongna Hill area, the heart of Daegu's modern culture. Starting from Cheongna Hill, visitors can experience Daegu's modern history and living culture at night in a special way, taking in sites such as Gyesan Cathedral, the March 1st Independence Movement Road, the former residences of Lee Sang-hwa and Seo Sang-don, and Gyesan Yega. During the event period, a variety of programs are offered, including nighttime openings of national heritage sites and modern cultural facilities, night-view tours with professional guides, cultural performances featuring the history and stories of the modern era, media art and landscape lighting, exhibition and experience programs, and a flea market. The festival is distinguished by the chance to stroll through Cheongna Hill and the modern-era alleyways in an atmosphere quite different from daytime, enjoying Daegu's history, culture, and beautiful night views all at once. Set against the backdrop of Jung-gu's modern alleyways, where past and present coexist, this special nighttime festival lets families, couples, and friends walk, see, and experience together, discovering a new charm in national heritage.
Why go
This nighttime festival turns Cheongna Hill and the surrounding Jung-gu alleyways into an open-air history walk after dark, taking in Gyesan Cathedral, the March 1st Independence Movement Road, and the former residences of Lee Sang-hwa and Seo Sang-don. Special night openings, guided night-view tours, performances, media art and landscape lighting make Daegu's modern-era heritage visible in a way daytime visits don't offer. It's a good fit for travellers who want atmosphere and story over big crowds or rides.
Getting there from Seoul
Take the KTX from Seoul Station (or Yongsan) to Dongdaegu Station, roughly a 1 hour 50 minute ride. From Dongdaegu, continue by Daegu subway or taxi into Jung-gu, near Gyesan-dong/Cheongna Hill. An express bus from Seoul to the Dongdaegu bus terminal is also an option if you prefer not to transfer stations.
Tips
- Wear sturdy, comfortable shoes — the route covers hilly alleyways and stairs around Cheongna Hill.
- Bring a light jacket; mid-October evenings in Daegu can turn cool after sunset.
- Arrive in the late afternoon to see the historic buildings in daylight before the night program and lighting begin.
