Chilgok Nakdonggang Peace Festival
Oct 15 – Oct 18, 2026 · Gyeongsangbuk-do

Overview
The Chilgok Nakdonggang Peace Festival commemorates the historical significance of the Battle of Nakdonggang, the last line of defense during the Korean War, and reflects on the spirit of national defense. It runs a variety of programs to remember the values of the Republic of Korea that ordinary people risked their lives to protect in 1950, and to express gratitude to those who defended the nation. At the 2026 festival, now in its 13th edition, peace-themed performances, hands-on experiences, and food programs will be offered, while also, under the slogan 'Boys, Becoming Boy Soldiers,' programs have been planned to bring attention to the young boy soldiers who received relatively little recognition behind the student-soldier narrative long spotlighted as a symbol of national defense, and to honor their spirits — further strengthening the festival's historical and peace-oriented message.

The 4th Chilgok Transmedia Festival
Sep 15 – Oct 25, 2026
The 4th Chilgok Transmedia Festival is a cultural arts festival held throughout Waegwan-eup, Chilgok-gun, designed to let visitors experience the area's spaces and cultural resources in new ways by combining them with diverse media content. This year's festival takes as its theme the friendship between the poet Gu Sang and the painter Lee Jung-seop, expanding on the two artists' lives and body of work through literature, art, media, and performance content. In particular, rather than concentrating content in a single venue, the festival is run as a space-migrating festival in which visitors move through everyday spaces throughout Waegwan-eup to experience the programs directly.
