Overview

The 'K-Military Festival: The Great Victory of Chuncheon,' presented jointly by the Army's 2nd Corps and Chuncheon City, will be held for three days from Friday, October 9 to Sunday, October 11 in the Chuncheon Riverside Park area. The event reflects on the historical significance of the Battle of Chuncheon, which unfolded in the Chuncheon area in the early stages of the Korean War, and honors the sacrifice and devotion of the fallen patriots and veterans. Along with a victory commemoration ceremony, the festival features a variety of performances, exhibitions, military equipment experiences, and citizen participation programs, giving the whole family a chance to learn about and enjoy the meaning of national defense.

Getting there from Seoul

Chuncheon is reachable from Seoul via the ITX-Cheongchun train from Yongsan or Cheongnyangni Station, with a journey of roughly 1 to 1.5 hours to Chuncheon Station. Express or intercity buses to Chuncheon also run from Dong-Seoul Bus Terminal in a similar travel time. From Chuncheon Station, the festival site in the Chuncheon Riverside Park area (Samcheon-dong) is a short taxi or local bus ride away.

It will be held from October 17 to 18, 2026, around Chuncheon City Hall Plaza, showcasing Chuncheon's traditional culture through performances such as Yongsin-gut (dragon god rite) and Udubeol Daedongcheollyeomnori (communal fishing play). The festival features a street parade with citizens, culture school performances, stages where youth and children can participate, invited performances, and folk art troupe performances, along with programs citizens can take part in directly, such as random dance, folk games, tteokmae (rice cake pounding) experiences, and craft-making experiences. It is a cultural event made up of a variety of programs combining performances and hands-on experiences so that different generations can experience and share the region's traditional culture together.

    Colorful Garden Jarasum Flower Festa

    The Flower Festa will be held at Jarasum in Gapyeong from September 12 to October 5, 2026. Visitors can enjoy vibrant, colorful autumn flowers throughout the venue, and on weekends and public holidays, busking and performances by local artists take place. Hands-on programs such as balloon art that children can enjoy with their families are also offered, along with booths selling local agricultural specialty products and snack food stalls. Of the 7,000 KRW admission fee, 5,000 KRW is refunded as local currency, which can be used not only at booths inside the venue but also at restaurants and cafes throughout the area. In addition, boat rides offering views of the beautiful waterside scenery of the Bukhangang River are also operated, and electric vehicles run round-trip between the entrance of Jarasum and the area near the venue, allowing for a more convenient and special trip. Flower Festa ticket holders will also be provided with discount benefits at major tourist attractions and businesses.
