Overview

Marking its 20th anniversary, the '2026 Incheon International Design Fair (INDEF)' will be held at the Incheon Culture & Arts Center under the slogan "Meet Incheon." It is Incheon's leading design festival, bringing together everything from innovative works by designers from Korea and abroad to industrial and corporate design from the Incheon region and fresh works by aspiring designers, all in one place.

Why go

This is the 20th-anniversary edition of INDEF, Incheon's flagship design festival, themed 'Meet Incheon.' It gathers work from Korean and international designers alongside industrial and corporate design from the Incheon region and pieces by up-and-coming designers, all under one roof.

Getting there from Seoul

The venue, Incheon Culture & Arts Center in Namdong-gu, sits on the Incheon Subway Line 1 corridor. From central Seoul, take Seoul Subway Line 1 toward Incheon/Bupyeong and transfer onto Incheon Subway Line 1, riding it to the stop nearest the Culture & Arts Center; the full trip typically runs well over an hour depending on your starting station.

Tips

  • Late November in Incheon is cold, often near freezing — dress in warm layers for queuing and walking between halls.
  • As a 20th-anniversary edition, turnout and media presence may be higher than usual, so arriving earlier in the day can mean an easier look at featured exhibits.
  • Culture & arts centers in Korea often house multiple halls (theatre, gallery, exhibition hall) — confirm on-site signage for which hall hosts the design fair itself.

Best for: designers, industry professionals, art & design enthusiasts, photographers.

2026 Incheon Wondosaje & Nakseom Festival

    Oct 24, 2026

Since ancient times, Korean ancestors performed rites at famous mountains, rivers, and seas, praying for the peace and well-being of the nation and local communities. For rites by the sea, during the Joseon dynasty such ceremonies were held in places like Incheon, Suncheon, and Gangneung. Among these, the Incheon-dohobu (Incheon's regional government office) held a rite to the god of the West Sea at Wondo (Nakseom). The Incheon Wondosaje refers to the rite held each spring and autumn at a shrine called Wondosa, built on Wondo during the Joseon dynasty, where Incheon's local magistrate gathered the spirit tablets of several islands and performed the ceremony on behalf of the king. The 2026 Incheon Wondosaje & Nakseom Festival is a festival held by Michuhol-gu that combines a reenactment of this ritual with a village festival featuring a harmony-themed street parade (gillori).
