Overview

This is a special cultural market created when youth-run startup shops, residents, local shops, and organizations all come together. Starting with an opening ceremony, this event features a less-waste market joined by local shops and resident communities along Samyang-ro, a youth startup market showcasing the bright ideas of young people, a variety of hands-on programs, and colorful performances by local artists and groups including jazz bands, dance, and magic, offering visitors both fun and relaxation. The event is organized together with residents, transforming the street area from Exit 8 of Gireum Station (Line 4) to Mia Elementary School into a 'street families want to walk together' and a 'street that breathes with culture.'

Why go

This one-day neighborhood event turns Samyang-ro into a community street market, mixing a less-waste market run by local shops and residents with a showcase of youth startup ideas. Visitors can also take part in hands-on programs and watch performances by local artists, including jazz bands, dance, and magic.

Getting there from Seoul

The market runs along Samyang-ro in Seongbuk-gu, from Exit 8 of Gireum Station to Mia Elementary School, so it's reachable directly by subway on Line 4. Take Line 4 to Gireum Station and leave via Exit 8; the street market stretches from there.

Tips

  • This is a single-day event on 17 October 2026, so confirm you're visiting on that date.
  • Head to Gireum Station (Line 4), Exit 8, and look for the market stalls along Samyang-ro.

QUAD, Questions of Theater: 〈Dance of the Revolution〉

    Oct 28 – Nov 8, 2026

〈Dance of the Revolution〉 boldly breaks away from the conventional narrative structure of traditional theater, consisting of eight independent scenes. Each scene merely illuminates fragmentary moments that one might encounter in the midst of a revolution, without being bound together by cause and effect. However, the persistently repeated lines and sounds, objects and light, and the actors' intricate movements on stage bring the work's intimate structure to the surface. Through these repeated patterns, the audience senses that the scenes are organically connected on a dimension beyond the story itself, and encounters a new experience in which the horizon of theater expands.

The will asks them to find the father they had believed was dead and a brother whose existence they never even knew about, and to deliver to them letters she left behind. It also contained her request to be buried without a coffin or a headstone. The siblings set out following their mother's traces, drawing ever closer to her veiled past. And at the end of that past, the siblings come face to face with a shocking truth about their mother's silence.
