2026 Hangang Paper Airplane Festival
Oct 10, 2026 · Seoul

Overview
This year's festival is built around the concept of an 'Autumn Playground,' featuring the Hangang Paper Airplane Flying Competition, where participants fold and fly paper airplanes by the Hangang River on an autumn day, lectures and demonstrations by national paper airplane champions, hands-on experiences for the whole family to enjoy together, performances, photo zones, photo-type events, and on-site event competitions. For the paper airplane competition, the highlight of the festival, applications are accepted in advance on a first-come, first-served basis, up to the maximum capacity of 700 people total, since the competition runs for just one day; applications can only be submitted online. For visitors who were unable to register for the competition, this year an "on-site event competition" will also be held; the event categories will be announced on-site on the day, and anyone present can take part.
Why go
This one-day autumn festival turns the Hangang riverside into a playground centered on paper airplanes, with a flying competition judged against national champions, hands-on demos, performances, and photo zones for the whole family. It's a lighthearted, low-cost way to spend an October afternoon by the river in central Seoul.
Getting there from Seoul
The venue is in Yeouido-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, within Seoul proper, so no intercity travel is needed. Take subway Line 5 to Yeouinaru Station (exit 2 or 3) or Line 5/9 to Yeouido Station, then walk to the Hangang Park riverside area; taxis and city buses also serve Yeouido directly.
Tips
- The main flying competition caps at 700 participants and fills via advance online registration only — sign up early if you want to compete.
- If you miss the main competition, ask on-site about the same-day walk-in event competition, open to anyone present.
- It's an outdoor riverside event in October, so bring a layer, sun protection, and a mat or blanket for sitting on the grass.
Best for: families, photographers, casual visitors.

2026 Local Ground Yeonnam
Oct 11, 2026
Local Ground Yeonnam is a local culture festival that unfolds across the alleys and local shops of Yeonnam-dong. It connects Yeonnam-dong's distinctive spaces, shops, and cultural content into a single festival, offering visitors a new experience of walking through and lingering in every corner of its alleys. Going beyond a festival that is simply watched, it is characterized by running a variety of content—including flea markets, busking performances, hands-on programs, and events—so that local shops and visitors can naturally meet and interact. In particular, it aims to create an alley festival in the heart of the city that anyone can enjoy comfortably, by combining Yeonnam-dong's free and sensory atmosphere and the picnic culture formed around Gyeongui Line Forest Park with the festival's content. Through this, it provides visitors with an opportunity to discover new charms of Yeonnam-dong, and creates a touchpoint for local shops that leads to new visits and spending. Through a festival where the area's spaces and people, commercial district and culture come together, it seeks to promote Yeonnam-dong's distinctive local culture and bring new vitality to the alley commercial district.
