Overview

The Gwangju Sound Park Festival has steadily run as a festival showcasing trending music and musicians' stages. This year it delivers wonderful live performances ranging from locally based musicians with top-notch skills — including Nell, Geukdongasia Tigers, Sinillyu, The Fix, Segimal, Moodlist, Two Five, Yedam, Say Sue Me, Dirty Racoon, Janmulgyeol, Tapered, and Current Mood — to some of the nation's top musicians. Alongside the performances, various programs such as a flea market and other events are also prepared.

Why go

This festival brings together a strong line-up of Korean indie and rock acts, including well-known names like Nell and Say Sue Me alongside rising regional artists such as Geukdongasia Tigers, Segimal, and Janmulgyeol. A flea market and other side events run alongside the live performances, giving visitors a mix of live music and casual browsing. It's a good pick for anyone wanting a look at Korea's indie music scene outside Seoul.

Getting there from Seoul

The fastest option is the KTX to Gwangju Songjeong Station (roughly 1.5–2 hours from Seoul), followed by a taxi or local bus to Sajik-gil in Nam-gu. Express buses also run from Seoul's bus terminals to Gwangju, taking around 3.5–4 hours depending on traffic and time of day.

Tips

  • Early October evenings in Gwangju can be cool, so bring a light layer for outdoor stages.
  • Carry some cash for the flea market stalls in case card payment isn't available.
  • Confirm set times and stage locations closer to the date, as detailed schedules weren't available at time of writing.

Best for: indie rock fans, music festival-goers, young travelers, flea market shoppers.
